Ever since its birth in the early nineteenth century, poker has become a very popular game all over the world. We are lucky because the pub league eliminates the need to visit brick-and mortar casinos to play. The biggest pub poker league in the world, it is rapidly attracting attention for its ability to qualify players for live tournaments.

The league initially comprised free poker games and aimed at training new players in a bid to encourage them to spend money at the facility, but began offering real money poker games a few years back in response to player feedback. Although serious players stay away from the pub poker league, many casual players have used it to win seats to the WSOP Asia Pacific Main Event, which has a buy-in of $10,000.

Poker Rules

Poker is a card game that is very easy to learn, but difficult to master. Usually played with a standard deck of 52 paying cards, it challenges players to create a strong hand that can win
the pot.

All poker hands contain five cards, and players have to bet that they will end up with the best poker hand. Players who feel that they cannot create a hand strong enough to win the pot can stop betting or bust or fold out of the game. If they do so, they will lose every bet they have made so far.

If players want to play poker, it is advisable that they first learn about the hand rankings as it is useless trying to play poker if they do not know what hands are capable of winning the pot.

Poker Variants

Poker owes most of its popularity to the fact that it is available in so many variants such as Stud, Omaha, and Hold’em, which are three of the most popular variants of the game. Draw poker games deal players five cards, which they can discard in favour of new cards in order to create a strong hand. Stud poker games comprise several betting rounds in which players receive some face-up and some face-down cards. The most common variants of Stud Poker are Five Card Stud and Seven Card Stud.

Several variants of poker are also mixed up and played together, and the most widely played mixed poker game is H.O.R.S.E, a mixture of Omaha High Low, Texas Hold’em, Seven Card Stud, Razz, and Seven Card Stud Eight or Better.
